Picture
By May 2022 all paper and plastic bags will be prohibited in most NJ food stores.

See "Bag Up NJ!"
video for more.

As of January 1, 2020 stores in Ridgewood no longer offer single use plastic bags at the checkout counter.
  • Stores and businesses may no longer provide single use plastic bags
  • Customers are encouraged to bring their own bags
  • Stores may provide paper bags. It is up to the individual store whether or not to charge for paper bags.
  • Stores may continue to provide single use plastic bags for fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, etc.

Our neighbors in Glen Rock and Paramus have also passed such regulations, as have over 70 other municipalities in New Jersey.
